Yes, it is true that most people who drink consider those who don't boring. Drinking is more than just drinking, it is a way to have more fun for them and to socialize. You not drinking means you are refusing to participate in their idea of fun and that makes you boring to them.

Everyone gets bored sometimes, it’s just the way life is. It’s what makes certain parts of your life all the more exciting. The boring moments make the exciting moments seem all the more exciting.

Finding new friends who don’t drink

It’s easy to say turn off the TV, but my husband finds this TV time as an unwinding time. Reading books and I’m still bored to tears. But my boredom at home is bad and getting worse. I have no desire to drink again b/c, frankly, drinking because of boredom the bad outweighs the good. But with it being 110 degrees outside now (and over or near 100 for 4-5 months out of the year), spending time outside just isn’t an option for me. When I do spend time outside, it’s to go skiing.

You might also appreciate verbal support and words of encouragement from friends and family. At the very least, they shouldn’t relentlessly tease you or pressure you to drink. However, what happens after someone successfully completes clinical treatment and goes out into the ‘real world’?
